Southern Kettle Moraine Challenge 2010 Fall Adventure Race - Now a Checkpoint Tracker Race!

What: A 24-hour adventure race in the scenic southern unit of the Kettle Moraine State Forest that will include on- and off-road biking, paddling, trekking and great day- & night-time navigation. Race will more than likely have a small break in the action just before dark on Saturday.
When: Saturday, October 9, 2010. Race will begin promptly at 8:00 a.m. Saturday and finish time cut-off will be at 8:00 a.m. Sunday October 10.
Packet pickup and check-in will be from 5:30 - 6:45 am with mandatory pre-race meeting to follow at 7:00 a.m. on Saturday.
Where: Race will start and finish at the DJ Mackie picnic area located on Hwy ZZ just east of Hwy 67 in the town of Ottawa. See Driving Directions link for detailed directions.
Teams: Will consist of four persons co-ed or two persons of any gender configuration. Awards will be given to first through third places in the four-person and two-person teams.
Race Distances: The following are approximate distances for each race event: Running/Trekking: 5-10 miles; Road Biking: 50-65 miles; Paddling: 10 miles; Mountain Biking: 10-15 miles; Trekking/Nav: 10-12 miles depending on your route choice. You will be biking and navigating after dark.
Post-Race Dinner: This will be a great feast as always and food will be ready as soon as the first team arrives and we'll keep it hot until the last team finishes!
Rental Canoes: Teams will be allowed to use their own canoes but rentals are available - see race updates link for more information.
Checkpoint Tracker: We are very excited to announce that the 2010 SKMC race is a Checkpoint Tracker race! For those of you looking to qualify for Nationals this is one of the LAST races to earn points! More information can be found on the Race Updates page or visit Checkpoint Tracker's website
Lodging: Camping is available in the state forest - go to the DNR's websitefor more information. Ottawa Lake & Pine Woods are within 5 minutes of the race start. Whitewater Lake is near the canoe drop and 45 minutes from the race start. Hotels: Staybridge Suites (Oconomowoc - approx. 10 miles from race start) or Country Pride Inn (Delafield - approx. 15 miles from race start) or Super 8 (Whitewater - near canoe drop, south end of course, approx. 45 minutes from race start).
