2007 SKMC Spring Race Updates

Hello All.  Watch this page for any new up-dates once we get closer to race date.

UP-DATE MAY  17

Hello all....well just got out of the woods after setting up the navigation controls and everything is ready to go.   Woods were good, First map has some water on it , 2 controls were slightly wet.   Your feet will get wet but the last 2 maps will be dry.  So bring at least one change of shoes.   Insects were not too bad if you keep moving.

Good turnout and I look forward to seeing all of you.   Remember to date Mt. bike trail passes for May 19th if you still need them.  They may be obtained at Ottawa lake.  Also remember to look over the mandatory gear list.   Eyewear for the navigation will also be mandatory.  Any glass wear will do.   See you soon........Andy

                                        UP-DATE   APRIL 9  2007

Hello racers,  course is set and is looking good.  I am getting excited and I am not even racing . Race starts and finishes Saturday at Mackie Picnic area , for directions to Mackie , go to the directions link above. This is the same area as last year for all returning racers.  Mackie will also be the place for the PRE-RACE registration Friday at 4-7:30pm and then the pre-race meeting will follow  at 8pm .

The canoeing section is close by, so shuttling canoes will be easier this year.  I will have directions to the canoe put in and take out at registration Friday night.  Remember to bring your canoes to registration so I can handicap them.  Also remember to bring a lock for your canoe   or canoes , canoes will be in a pretty secure area but I would prefer not to take chances with the gear.    Camping at Ottawa lake would be very close to race start and finish , directions to Ottawa lake is on directions link above.  If you would prefer to motel it, go to the motels which are north of Ottawa lake instead of Whitewater, they will be closest to start and finish.  There are no motels that are real close but the ones north of Mackie are about  8-10 miles away.   Motels are also listed on the directions link.

Race should take the faster racers around 9 hours to complete and maybe 10-12 hours for the rest of the racers .   As normal, I will have a 12 hour cut-off for all racers however I do believe most racers should be able to finish  before 12 hours. As always please read the race info page and mandatory gear list before coming out.    Looking forward to seeing all of you once again and watch this site for any last up-dates.......Andy
